Maxime Martin will leave BMW Motorsport

July 2016, Spa-Francorchamps. Max Martin joins his father Jean-Michel on the list of winners of the 24 Hours of Spa, by winning the Belgian double lap at the wheel of the BMW M6 GT3 – ROWE Racing.

A victory which will undoubtedly remain as one of the defining moments of Maxime Martin's career within BMW Motorsport. The 31-year-old driver and the German brand, however, confirmed this Thursday the end of their collaboration that began in 2013.

After having evolved in BMW customer teams, notably Team Marc VDS, Maxime Martin joined the Munich fold and crossed the Atlantic to compete in the American Le Mans Series on behalf of Team RLL.

2014, however, marks the return to Europe for the native of Uccle, with a program DTM within Team RMG then RBM. A discipline that Martin will not leave until 2017, accumulating three victories in four seasons. Accustomed to GT events, particularly in GT3, Maxime Martin will also shine with Team Marc VDS or ROWE Racing.

« It really was a wonderful time with BMW, as an official driver, admits the Belgian. We have had great success together, with victories and podiums in the DTM, victory at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps as well as second place at the 24 Hours at the Nürburgring.

I would like to thank Jens Marquardt, Adam Baker and Rudi Dittrich who believed in me five years ago and gave me the opportunity to join BMW as an official driver. I think without that everything might have been different.

But sometimes you need new challenges and new changes, so I decided to go for a new challenge. I'm looking forward to what's ahead, but it was a great time with BMW and I want to thank everyone who participated. »

The German brand will hold its end-of-season evening tomorrow evening, where its programs for 2018 will be announced.
