Miguel Molina with Audi in DTM

Audi, to replace Tom Kristensen, who decided to leave the DTM at the end of the 2009 season, chose a young driver. Miguel Molina, 21, played three seasons of Formula Renault 3.5 Series in 2007 and 2009 (Pons Racing, Prema Powerteam, Ultimate Motorsport), and therefore became an Audi factory driver for the 2010 season. The Spanish driver joins DTM luminaries, such as Timo Scheider or Mattias Ekström, and will drive an Audi A4. The firm with the rings made its decision after observing the young driver in testing.

« Miguel is not only a charming young man, says Dr. Wolgang Ullrich, it is also very fast. Two years ago, he was already fast during a test in an Audi A4. But arriving in the DTM at 18 would have been too early for him. That?s why I?m happy that in the latest tests it confirmed the performance and the good impression it left. »

After starting his career in car, the youngest Audi factory driver will discover the German touring car championship. “ For me, it's a dream come true, declares the Spaniard. Driving for Audi in the DTM is simply fantastic. Audi is a great brand, with great cars, and the DTM has established itself as one of the best series in the world. I will give everything to live up to the expectations placed on me. »

Miguel Molina joins Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline, the team that has won the championship for the last three years. However, the Spanish driver will only benefit from an "R14" (2008 model), while Timo Scheider, Mattias Ekström, Martin Tomczyk and Oliver Jarvis will drive a latest specification "R14 Plus".
