Mortara returns to Macau in GT

Edoardo, you won twice in Macau (the GP of F3, editor’s note). This time, however, will your task be much different than in the past?
I?m looking forward to this race weekend. I am obviously delighted to have the opportunity to ride in Macau again. The Grand Prix has always been the pinnacle for any F3 driver, a sort of world finale. Going back now is an extraordinary opportunity. I got such good results there. After two victories in F3, I am racing this year with an Audi R8 LMS entered by the Chinese subsidiary in the GT category.

You still don't know your car, the Audi R8 LMS. Does this worry you?
The car has already demonstrated its capabilities in the numerous races in which it has participated, winning more than 100 victories. For me, this will indeed be a first, since I have never driven the Audi R8 LMS. It will also be my first race in GT. This intrigues me a lot. However, everyone emphasizes the easy handling of the Audi. It?s the perfect customer car. I am convinced that I will feel at home there after a short acclimatization period.

You know the route perfectly. Do you like this type of circuits?
I particularly enjoy city tours. Throughout my career, I have always achieved good results there, whether in Pau, at the Norisring or in Macau. I'm confident. I drove on this track four times with an F3. I know the trajectory and obviously all the details that make the difference. The circuit is more than six kilometers long, which is a lot for a city track. Maybe what gave me an advantage in F3 will also work in GT3. This is why I am convinced that we will be able to achieve a great result with the R8 LMS.
