Mortara: “I always try to learn”

This Munich show was completely new for the DTM. What did you think of it?
I think we gave the fans a really cool event. I am delighted. It is important to promote a sport like ours. And a show like this is a good way to do it. I was particularly happy to see all these spectators in the stands. It was really pleasant.

If someone had told you that you would be the Audi driver who would reach the final on Saturday and Sunday and that you would meet Bruno Spengler there every time, what would you have thought?
Something like this is completely unpredictable. In fact, it's interesting that we found ourselves in the final twice in different conditions due to the change in format. Obviously, you always try to give your best. Overall, I'm delighted. But I'm also a little disappointed by my exit in the final.

Your learning curve progresses upwards. Recently, at the Norisring, you achieved your best result of the season in difficult conditions, with a victory on the first day in Munich. What do you expect from the next event (Nürburgring on August 7)?
I try to learn constantly. I still have to gain a lot of experience. It?s more important than a simple result. In Munich, I showed that I could do a good job and produce good performances. Obviously, it would be great if we could continue like this in the second half of the season.
