Vice-champion of DTM in 2020, Nico Mueller had not won in the discipline since Hockenheim that same year. The Swiss returned to victory this Sunday by winning Race 2 in Portimão. Starting from pole position, the Helvetian mastered the 55 minutes and a lap from start to finish, ahead of Felipe Fraga (Ferrari) and Mirko Bortolotti (Lamborghini).

“I am very happy,” confided Nico Mueller after the finish. Today would have been one of those days where I would have been disappointed with second place. This year in DTM, it will be about seizing opportunities to win and making it stick. You can't settle for second place. That's what we're going to do. We have pulled out all the stops today to enable this. We took a risk with an efficient stop by reacting to that of Felipe (Fraga. Editor's note) and doing a very long second stint. It made tire management tricky, but it worked and I'm very happy for the whole team after all the hard work they've done and I'm very grateful to them. »

Next meeting at the Lausitzring, the weekend of May 20 to 22.
