Nico Müller sets the record straight

The boss showed his fangs. Nico Müller won the second race of the weekend on the small Nürburgring circuit ahead of his two championship rivals, Robin Frijns and René Rast. Solid leader of the championship since the start of the season, Müller saw Frijns come back with a bang, 13 points behind. He showed that, for the moment, he was still on top.

The Swiss got off to a flying start from third place to overtake the surprising Ferdinand Habsbourg (Audi Team WRT), who was very strong over one lap. He then put pole sitter Robin Frijns under pressure until the seventh lap where he took the advantage. We didn't see him again. The positions were quickly fixed between the first three.

Behind, Sheldon Van der Linde finished fourth and first for the BMWs. Still struggling with race pace, Ferdinand Habsburg achieved a good sixth place. French Loïc duval managed to enter the top 10 after starting 14th.

After twelve races out of eighteen, Nico Müller has an 18-point lead over Robin Frijns and 47 over René Rast. THE DTM takes a three-week break before returning to Zolder on October 10.
