Nico Müller regains victory at Misano

Nico Müller (Audi) scored his first success in DTM since 2016 by winning Race 2 in Misano (Italy). The Swiss started from 4th row and fought in the leading group. The Swiss driver then took advantage of a puncture on the RS 5 DTM of leader René Rast to take the lead of the race and sign his first victory since 2016.

Starting only 9th, Philipp Eng (BMW) made a very good start and managed to take the advantage over René Rast who completed the podium despite his tire problems.

Robin Frijns (Audi) failed to reach the podium after spinning following contact from his teammate Loïc duval. The Frenchman was penalized by a drive through and ultimately finished in 11th place.

Pietro Fittipaldi (Audi), Jamie Green's replacement, took his first Top 5 in DTM. The reservist of Haas beat Joel Eriksson (BMW) who won his duel against Jonathan Aberdein (Audi). Bruno Spengler (BMW), Sheldon van der Linde (BMW) and Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) completed the Top 10.

Andrea Dovizioso (Audi) was fighting for points before spinning late in the race. The pilot MotoGP finally crossed the finish line being 15th and last classified.

Marco Wittmann (BMW) was fighting in the first positions before contact forced him to retire.

René Rast maintains the lead of the championship with 10 points ahead of Philipp Eng. Nico Müller is now in 3rd place, 17 points behind the German.
