Paffett first winner of the season at Hockenheim

Gary Paffett (Mercedes) won the first race of the season DTM in Hockenheim contested in Hockenheim. Starting from pole, the 2005 champion faced Lucas Auer (Mercedes) who had managed to take the advantage in the pit stop game.

Timo Glock put the first BMW M4 DTM on the podium, but the former driver Toyota F1 could hope to regain a place since the Austrian was under investigation for potentially breaking the regulations in parc ferme after qualifying. However, the result has since been confirmed.

Edoardo Mortara (Mercedes) took advantage of the competition's mistakes to climb to fourth place. The former winner of the Macau GP notably benefited from the exit of the track of Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) and Marco Wittmann (BMW). Pascal Wehrlein (Mercedes) completed the Top 5 ahead of Bruno Spengler (BMW).

As in qualifying, the Audis suffered. Reigning champion René Rast could do no better than ninth, finishing behind the Mercedes of Paul di Resta and Daniel Juncadella. The German preceded Loïc duval. The Frenchman left immediately after the race at Spa-Francorchamps where he is entered in WEC on the TDS Racing Oreca 07.

Qualifying for Race 2 of the DTM will be contested this Sunday from 11:25 a.m.
