Philipp Eng signs his first success in Zolder

Philipp Eng (BMW) took his first victory in DTM at the end of Race 1 in Zolder (Belgium) where the event was disrupted by a safety car following the stopping of the Aston Martin Vantage by Jake Dennis and Daniel Juncadella. This interruption trapped the leaders, Bruno Spengler in the lead ahead of pole sitter Marco Wittmann (BMW) and René Rast (Audi) who had not yet made their obligatory stop.

Starting only from 7th row, Philipp Eng was the first to benefit from the safety car and finally won ahead of Joel Eriksson (BMW) and Nico Müller (Audi).

Despite a 5 second penalty for having anticipated the start, Loic duval (Audi) is at the foot of the podium after starting from 14th position. The Frenchman beat Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) and Jamie Green (Audi). Marco Wittmann had to settle for 7th place ahead of Paul di Resta (Aston Martin), Ferdinand Habsburg (Aston Martin) and Bruno Spengler (BMW) who was aiming for victory before the race was interrupted.
