The 2022 season of DTM was officially launched at 10:05 a.m. this Saturday, the start time of the first qualifying session of the year for the championship which begins its second year with GT3 regulations.

In Portimão, where this first weekend of competition is taking place, it was Mirko Bortolotti who took pole position for race 1 in 1:39.678 with his Lamborghini Huracán. The Italian from GRT Grasser Racing beat the Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo of Mikaël Grenier (Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM Racing) by just 0.011 seconds and Lucas Auer (Mercedes AMG Team Winward Racing) by 0.041 seconds.

Weekend attraction, Sébastien Loeb took 21st place on the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 from the team Red Bull Alpha Tauri AF Corse, 0.786 seconds behind the poleman. Race 1 will start at 13:30 p.m. French time.
