Premat: “No one is responsible”

Alexandre, do you remember the circumstances of your accident well?
I remember everything, before, during and after the accident. I was having a good ride. In the last corner, I tried to overtake Ralf Schumacher. I was on the outside but he squeezed me to the left and my exit turned out to be really bad. Maro Engel came back on me and touched me a little because he came back much faster. Everyone defended their position. He touched me, it was a very small touch. But, because of the bad conditions? Fresh track, cold tires - that sent me into the barriers.

Who do you attribute responsibility for this accident to?

Nobody is responsible. Neither me nor Maro. It was the very slippery conditions that caused the accident. It?s the fault of bad luck.

How did you feel when you rolled over?

It was really weird. It was very long, I couldn't see anything. I was waiting for it to end as quickly as possible. I checked on the way out that I had nothing broken: my elbows, my legs, my neck, my ankles, everything was working normally. I immediately saw, when I got out of the car, that I was fine.

Do you want to forget all this as quickly as possible or do you need to dissect this accident to digest it?
It?s weird to think about it. I saw it again for the first time on video when I came home? Actually, fortunately, I'm not injured. In my head, I want to forget about it and get back in the car as quickly as possible. So it didn’t change anything. But maybe it would have been different if I had been injured.

You are going to drive in Shanghai with a new Audi A4. Will you be riding on board soon?

I won't be able to do a shakedown with my new car but I will do my seat soon.

You were supposed to participate in the New York Marathon. Ultimately, you are not taking part but you are still in New York?
Yes, I wanted to go there to breathe in the atmosphere of such an event. I'm still young to do the marathon and it was too close to my accident to participate. I am young, I still have time to do it but I still wanted to go to New York to enjoy this atmosphere.
