Weekend of premieres DTM at Spa-Francorchamps, 6th stage of the 2022 season. While the Norwegian Dennis Olsen had opened his personal counter in the German championship on Saturday in the Ardennes, Nick Cassidy did the same this Sunday.
The pilot of the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 n°37 of the team Alpha Tauri AF Corse is ahead of Sheldon van der Linde, who is taking the opportunity to increase his lead in the Drivers' standings after a modest 12th place in Race 1 yesterday.
At the wheel of the No. 4 BMW M3 GT31, the South African benefited from the retirement of René Rast (Team Abt Audi No. 33), who started in pole position for this second event of the weekend. The three-time DTM champion was surprised at the start by Van der Linde before an intense battle with Cassidy, ending with contact as La Source approached braking.
C’est toutefois en raison d’une crevaison à quelques tours de l’arrivée que Rast doit renoncer. Thomas Preining (Porsche n°24 du KÜS Team Bernhard) complète le podium, comme il l’avait fait la veille en Course 1.
Van der Linde now has 130 points in the general classification and 32 lengths ahead of Lucas Auer, 4th this Sunday. Rast is 3rd in the championship with 96 units.
The 7th and penultimate round of the 2022 DTM season will be held at Red Bull Ring (Austria) from September 23 to 25.
