R-Motorsport and HWA end their partnership

In conjunction with AF Racing and its R-Motorsport division, the commitment of Aston Martin Vantage in DTM this year was entrusted to the HWA structure, long a centerpiece of the presence of Mercedes in the German Touring Car Championship.

An association, materialized by the joint venture Vynamic, which lasted only one campaign, HWA and AF Racing – R-Motorsport having announced this Thursday the end of their alliance.

“We have not been able to establish consensus for future collaboration with HWA AG to fulfill our commitment to DTM, indicates R-Motorsport Team Principal Dr. Florian Kamelger.

The only option for us now is to end our partnership with HWA for the DTM and focus on the future. Despite the end of our collaboration, we still plan to continue participating in the DTM and we will look towards 2020 in this new context, in coordination with Aston Martin. »

The British brand which had awarded its license to the HWA – R-Motorsport duo for the DTM, will however remain in support of R-Motorsport, which also defends its interests in GT3, particularly in GT World Challenge.

“Aston Martin will further support R-Motorsport’s DTM program and its wider plan to compete in series governed by Class 1 regulations, such as Super GT in Japan and Asia. » insists Dr Andy Palmer, president of Aston Martin Lagonda.

R-Motorsport had, however, indicated that it did not want to go to the Fuji Dream Race next November in Japan, where Audi and BMW will face the Japanese manufacturers in Super GT, as was the case during the DTM final at Hockenheim more early in the month.
