René Rast dominates the DTM at Zolder

René Rast (Audi) took his second victory of the season in DTM by winning Race 2 in Zolder (Belgium). The 2017 champion took the advantage on the 11th lap over pole sitter Sheldon van der Linde (BMW) before going to the pits and stopping the race.

The safety car entered the track following contact from Marco Wittmann (BMW) on Robin Frijns (Audi) while they were fighting for 5th place. The 2014 champion was penalized by a drive-through relegating him to the back of the peloton at the restart.

René Rast took advantage of the fights in the peloton to consolidate his lead and win with around ten seconds ahead of Philipp Eng (BMW), yesterday's winner, who becomes the new leader of the championship with a lead of 5 points over René Rast.

Jamie Green (Audi) completed the podium after an aggressive end to the race from the Briton who took advantage of his fresh tires to take advantage of several competitors in the final laps and beat Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) and Sheldon van der Linde (BMW).

Jake Dennis offered Aston Martin his best result of the season by taking 6th position. His teammates had less success since Paul di Resta did not take part in the race after his mechanical problems encountered in qualifying, while Ferdinand Habsburg and Daniel Juncadella dropped out.

Loïc duval (Audi) was in 6th place at the restart before slipping down the rankings after a slight exit from the track. The Frenchman failed at the gates of the Top 10 behind Bruno Spengler (BMW), Nico Müller (Audi), Pietro Fittipaldi (Audi) and Joel Eriksson (BMW).
