Far from the celebrations and joy of Luca Stolz, victorious in Race 2 at the Nürburgring, others were green with rage. René Rast, driver of Team ABT Sportsline, did not let up after his retirement. Hit by David Schumacher at the start of the last turn in the first laps, the future member of the BMW fold had to end his race prematurely, stuck in the gravel trap.

Back in his pits, René Rast did not mince his words. “ Schumacher hit me first in the chicane and I had a bad exit, said the Audi driver. Then he tried to pass me and hit me from behind again, sending me into the gravel. (…) This is unacceptable ! »

The three-time champion of DTM was very critical of the new generation, whom he considers not prepared enough to enter the championship. “ The driving standards this year in DTM are unacceptable. They drive like little kids, they have no experience and it's really not fun to drive anymore, railed René Rast. They don't behave well. I think some of them need to go back to their support series, get some experience and then come back to DTM. That way, it's no longer fun to drive. »

René Rast left the Nürburgring with only 2 points, thanks to his 9th place in Race 1. Distanced in the championship at 39 points from the leader, Sheldon van der Linde, the German hopes that Schumacher will be penalized for his maneuver: " It is Pas only for him, but also for the other drivers. (…) Some give you space, others don’t. You can no longer pass side by side in a turn. They push you onto the grass, hit you from behind, spin you out. It's just a gamble and we definitely have to do something about it. »
