Rockenfeller wanted to do even better

Author of the third fastest time in the last qualifying session held in the rain, Mike Rockenfeller is able to achieve a good result at the Nürburgring in order to improve his sixth place in the standings. The Audi driver failed just three tenths behind the second position occupied by Jamie Green (Mercedes).

The German is satisfied with his result even if he would have preferred to offer a 100% Audi front row to Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. “I only used a few sets of tires in qualifying and I only had good runs,” commented Mike Rockenfeller at the end of the session. “Being third on the grid is a very good result but the front row would have been even better. I could have achieved it, but the conditions were very difficult for everyone in Q4. »

Rocky regrets the time spent in the pits which prevented him from setting more times on track. “I tried everything,” adds the Audi driver. “I lost time in the pits when changing tires, which cost me the front row. But the most important thing is to be placed in front of the main opponents, that makes me optimistic. I thank my engineer and my team because they really did a good job. »

The start of the race will be at 14 p.m.
