The 2020 DTM will finally begin at Spa-Francorchamps, the city of Nuremberg having not given its agreement for the organization of the Norisring event.

Spa will finally open the 2020 season

Presented the day before yesterday, the new 2020 calendar DTM has already been amended. The city of Nuremberg, which hosts the Norisring round, ultimately did not agree to the organization of the event, de facto canceling what was to be the first round on the program from July 10 to 12.

“The decision not to grant government authorization for the races DTM at the Norisring surprised us, admits Marcel Mohaupt, manager of ITR, promoter of the series.

However, we respect the decision of the city of Nuremberg. Also for the DTM, the safety of everyone involved is the top priority. Now we are looking forward to the opening of the new season at Spa-Francorchamps. »

The Belgian circuit, which is making its return to the discipline, will in fact serve as the theater for the resumption of the German touring car championship at the beginning of August, before the sequence of events as defined in the calendar presented on Wednesday.
