Spengler enjoys new success at the Norisring

Bruno Spengler (BMW) won Race 2 of the DTM at the Norisring, winning ahead of the Audis of Jamie Green and Mike Rockenfeller. The 2012 champion took advantage of the fight between the leaders at the start to take the advantage at the exit of the first corner. Despite the stoppages, the Canadian maintained the advantage and won his first victory of the season.

Jamie Green failed more than 5 seconds from victory while preceding Mike Rockenfeller. Robin Frijns (Audi) and Philipp Eng (BMW) completed the Top 5, the Austrian taking advantage of the mechanical problems encountered by Marco Wittmann (BMW) at the end of the race.

Loïc duval (Audi) took 6th position. After losing places by being caught in the fight at the start, the Frenchman implemented an aggressive strategy by stopping at the end of the first lap.

The former winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans finished ahead of René Rast (Audi) who started on pole after his victory the day before but who had to make a comeback race after being sent into a spin by Nico Müller (Audi). The culprit suffered a drive through relegating him to 8th place. Timo Glock (BMW) and Daniel Juncadella (Aston Martin) completed the Top 10.

René Rast leaves the Norisring with a lead of 25 points over Nico Müller.
