Timo Glock: “The DTM must look at what Supercars is doing”

2018 will mark the end of an era in DTM with the departure of Mercedes, who will turn towards the Formula E from 2019-2020, and which will leave the German championship with only two manufacturers Audi and BMW.

If the series across the Rhine tries to get closer to the Super GT on a technical level, Timo Glock, BMW driver, believes that it is also the Australian Supercars side that ITR, organizer of the DTM, should be eyeing.

“Since I've been in DTM I've been saying we need to see what Supercars does in Australia, specifies Glock, cited by the Supercars website. What they are doing is good. You have real cars which, compared to the DTM ones, have no aerodynamic downforce.

You can follow, you can overtake, you can drive door to door, and that's what we can't do. Entertaining the fans is what we need.

This is why I say that we have to go more and more in this direction with the car, and automatically the show will be better, automatically the fans will come, because there will be a spectacle and good races. »

Glock, who will be at the start of the Bathurst 12 Hours next weekend in a Team SRM BMW M6 GT3, has made no secret of his desire to one day compete in the Bathurst 1000 in Supercars. “That would be on my list indeed. Let's see how this can happen. » admits the German.
