Tom Coronel discovers the BMW M3 DTM in Jérez

Tom Coronel took the wheel of the BMW M3 DTM last week in Jérez as a reward for the BMW Sports Trophy awarded to him this year. The Dutchman has been defending the interests of the Propeller manufacturer for several seasons in the WTCC with Roal Motorsport, notably finishing in tenth place in the Championship this year. The 1999 Formula Nippon champion had to get his bearings by moving from the 320 TC to the model which will be replaced by the new M4 DTM next year.

If this session was not carried out with a view to hiring for the German Touring Car Championship, BMW having already revealed its new drivers for 2014, the experience was enough to delight Tom Coronel. “It was hard to stay silent, anyone who knows me will understand how difficult it was for me. It was a great experience and everything went well. My times were interesting and even exceeded expectations. I can't talk too much about it but the engineers were pretty happy with the session. Above all, it was fantastic to drive. The best points of comparison in my opinion are Super GT, Formula Nippon and Le Mans Series that I have known in the past. It’s a car with tremendous downforce. »

Video of the practice session is available on this link.
