Tomczyk: “Recovering the general’s head”

During the last round of the championship DTM at the Norisring, Martin Tomczyk was dislodged from his leadership seat by Bruno Spengler. However, the German is only three points behind the Canadian from home. Mercedes, and intends to recover his property this weekend at the Nürburgring. There are many reasons for Tomczyk to want to shine, since his team, Audi Sport Team Phoenix, will play at home on the Eifel Massif.

“The Nürburgring will be a special event, underlines the main person concerned. Not just because my team is at home there. I really like the Nürburgring. I always enjoyed riding there in past seasons. I can't wait to race there, and I hope that I will be able to regain the lead in the general classification. »

Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich is confident about his driver?s chances of once again seizing the reins of the championship. “If you ask Martin what his favorite track is, he’ll probably say the Nürburgring, says the boss of Audi Motorsport. This circuit suits him perfectly. He's had a great start to the season. I hope that he will arrive in the Eifel massif with the same enthusiasm, and that when we leave, he will still love the Nürburgring as much as when we arrived. »

In the last four DTM seasons, Martin Tomczyk has stood on the top step of the podium twice at the Nürburgring. With an Audi DTM generally performing well on this track and optimal confidence, seeing Tomczyk in the lead in the general standings on Sunday evening would come as no surprise.
