Tomczyk wins title in Valencia

Audi missed Petit's meeting Le Mans in ILMC but the manufacturer with the rings makes up for it in Valencia with the DTM. If Mattias Ekström signs his second victory in a row ahead of Filipe Albuquerque and Martin Tomczyk, thus giving Audi a new hat-trick, the team will especially celebrate the German's title. Mercedes experiences his worst weekend of the season while trying to advantage his leading driver and offers his rival the first six places.

Martin Tomczyk took advantage of his rival Bruno Spengler's poor end to the season to secure first place in the Championship. The Audi driver had a nine-point lead after the Oschersleben event where the Mercedes driver retired a few laps from the goal.

The two leaders had missed their qualifications in Valencia. If Mattias Ekström secured victory by starting from pole, Martin Tomczyk only started from 11th place while Bruno Spengler only took 13th position on the starting grid. The Championship leader managed to climb to the last step of the podium while his Canadian rival could only finish in seventh position.
