Tomczyk: A wait finally rewarded

Martin Tomczyk was not expected to be a title contender at the start of the season. The German was also at the wheel of an Audi A4 DTM of the year 2008 to compete in the Championship but that did not prevent him from winning three races this year and getting on the podium four other times before the final at Hockenheim. Opposed to Bruno Spengler for the title, the Canadian gave up by missing the end of the season.

This coronation for the Audi driver culminates a career of eleven years spent in the German discipline. “It’s difficult to find the words to express what I feel”, admits the DTM champion. ?It?s really an incredible feeling to be titled. You have to get there to realize the situation. I spent eleven seasons in DTM with lots of ups and downs and managed to win the title in the eleventh year with Team Phoenix. »

The final laps of the Valencia race seem to have been experienced as torture for Martin Tomczyk. “These last laps seemed like an eternity”, confirms the German. “I was really waiting for the checkered flag to make my dream come true. This season has been great and the car has been really enjoyable to drive throughout the year, as well as working with my team. I think we deserve to celebrate this title now. »
