An “all-star” trio for BMW this season in DTM. The Bavarian firm has revealed the drivers who will represent it in the German Grand Touring championship in 2023. A three-star crew with three champions of the discipline.
In the first BMW M4 GT3 we will find the reigning DTM champion, Sheldon van der Linde. The South African will still defend his title with Team Schubert. “Until recently, I could only dream of defending my DTM title in the number 1 car, said Van der Linde I spent all winter wondering if I should swap my number 31, which has always brought me luck, for number 1, but such an opportunity doesn't come along often. Number 1 is the icing on the cake for my Shell livery. »

The second BMW will be operated by the Project 1 Motorsport team and will be driven by Marco Wittmann, double DTM champion in 2014 and 2016, who will take up the number 11.
Finally, BMW welcomes a new driver, and not the least: René Rast, former official Audi Sport driver, who joined the Munich manufacturer last summer. The German will experience his first DTM season without the brand with the rings. The three-time champion of the discipline (2017, 2019, 2020) will drive with the Schubert team, always with the number 33.
“The BMW M4 GT3 and the colors of my partner RoboMarkets are new to me, but I really like the blue and am looking forward to my new look in the DTM, said René Rast. I will do my best to achieve success for BMW M Motorsport, the Schubert team and my partner. It's fantastic to be able to race with my number 33 again. It has become my trademark in the DTM over the years. »
The 2023 DTM season will be structured around a calendar of 8 dates with two rounds outside Germany: Oschersleben (May 26-28), Zandvoort (Netherlands, June 23-25), Norisring (7- July 9), Nürburgring (August 4-6), Lausitzring (August 18-20), Sachsenring (September 8-10), Red Bull Ring (Austria, September 22-24) and Hockenheim (October 20-22).
