Three drivers excluded from Race 2 in Budapest

The officials of DTM were keen to react following the accidents that occurred in the stands which injured three marshals, including one seriously in the legs. Bruno Spengler (BMW), Lucas Auer (Mercedes) and Edoardo Mortara (Mercedes) were excluded from Race 2 held at the Hungaroring (Hungary) after the drivers lost control of their mount while trying to change tires when the rain surprised the competitors.

The commissioners relied on the regulations which stipulate that a driver must reduce his speed as soon as he reaches the deceleration zone in order to be able to stop his car without endangering the other participants.

Edoardo Mortara and Bruno Spengler also received a ten-place penalty for the next race and are placed on probation for two meetings. The stewards increased the sanction by explaining that they had been warned by radio of the extreme conditions and that yellow flags were displayed in the pit lane following Lucas Auer's accident.

Augusto Farfus (BMW) thus inherits seventh place from Bruno Spengler, while Audi drivers Robin Frijns and Loïc duval enter the Top 10 completed by reigning champion René Rast.

The DTM will resume its rights on the weekend of June 24 at the Norisring.
