Winner in Zolder, Rast takes control of the championship

Le DTM has a new leader in the person of René Rast (Audi Sport Team Rosberg). Starting from pole, the German dominated the first race of this second consecutive weekend in Zolder head and shoulders. Only dropping back to third after his stop while waiting for Robert Kubica (Orlen Team ART) and Timo Glock (BMW Team RMG) to make theirs, the main person concerned was never really worried.

Third on the starting grid, Robin Frijns (Audi Sport Team ABT Sportline) positioned himself as the only threat to René Rast but here again the winner of race 1 proved intractable. Aside from a failed attack, the Dutchman was unable to do anything and had to settle for second place at the checkered flag. Ferdinand Habsburg completes the podium, the first for him. He finished more than 20 seconds from the lead.

Leader before the start of the weekend, Nico Müller lost very big during this race 1. Robin Frijns' teammate crossed the finish line in 6th position in Race 1 only. A result which made him lose the lead in the ranking to the benefit of a fiery René Rast, winner of the last three races. He is now ten points behind the German.

Called to replace Loïc duval, Benoît Tréluyer was not on his best day. Sanctioned with a drive through for speeding in the pit lane, the Frenchman finished last, one lap behind René Rast. Mike Rockenfeller and Robert Kubica did not see the checkered flag.

Race 2 in Zolder is scheduled for 14:00 p.m. this Sunday.
