Wittmann from last to winner at Misano

Marco Wittmann (BMW) achieved an incredible victory in Misano (Italy). After starting from last place on the grid, the double champion of DTM carried out an aggressive strategy by stopping at the end of the first lap. It was during the interruption of the race following the stop of Joel Eriksson (BMW) which allowed him to move up in the peloton to the lead of the race.

If pole sitter René Rast (Audi) subsequently quickly caught up with the new leader, the German ultimately failed more than 8 seconds behind the winner.

Loïc duval (Audi) completed the podium after starting from the same position. The Frenchman was able to take over Ferdinand Habsburg (Aston Martin), also on an aggressive strategy, taking advantage of tires in better condition.

Taking advantage of a good start from 6th place, Bruno Spengler (MW) ranked 4th ahead of the Audis of Nico Müller and Mike Rockenfeller. Former championship leader Philipp Eng (BMW) finished 7th ahead of Jonathan Aberdein who fell in the standings following a bad start and a missed stop. The Top 10 was completed by the BMWs of Sheldon van der Linde and Timo Glock.

Andrea Dovizioso (Audi) made a brilliant DTM debut. The star of MotoGP took 12th place, managing to maintain the advantage over the Aston Martins.
