Wittmann victorious with panache in Race 2 at the Norisring

Mark Wittman (BMW) demonstrated on Sunday afternoon that yes, it is possible to overtake on the Norisring city circuit in Nuremberg (Germany). The official BMW driver, qualified in seventh place on the grid for Race 2, won the event thanks to a great sense of attack.

The two-time champion DTM (2014 and 2016) partly took advantage of the pit stops to move up several notches in the hierarchy. After the tire change, the BMW M4 returned to third place. It was at the end of the pit straight that he successfully carried out several attacks on Lucas Auer (Mercedes) and the poleman Daniel Juncadella (Mercedes) on the 23rd lap. Edoardo Mortara (Mercedes, 2nd), victorious in Race 1, also made a good comeback from fifth position.

The favorites for the title did not have a good day. Gary Paffett (Mercedes), leader of the general the day before and placed on the first line, disappeared due to traffic and a bad pit stop. The Briton finished 13th but remained at the top of the Drivers' standings. His direct opponent Timo Glock (BMW) only scores one point (10th).

The only Frenchman involved, Loïc duval (Audi, 18th) received a pit stop penalty for contact with Augusto Farfus (BMW, 17th).
