Festival of vintage decorations for the start of the Enduro Cup in Sandown

The Supercars championship was inspired by the Nascar and decided to celebrate the history of his sport during a racing weekend. On the Sandown circuit (Australia), the teams will swap their 2018 liveries for homages to decorations worn by the champions of the 1980s, 90s and 2000s. Overview of vintage decorations with the most beautiful effect!

DJR Team Penske
The two Ford Falcons shared by Scott McLaughlin-Alexandre Prémat and Tony d'Alberto-Fabian Coulthard will have a simple plain red color, with the rims painted gold. These two colors were used by the winning Ford Sierra RS500 in 1988 in the hands of Dick Johnson, now a team boss (the DJ of DJR Team Penske is him).

Walkinshaw Andretti United
In this team, we remember with emotion Mark Skaife's victory at the Philip Island 500 in 2008. This legend of the discipline won his last victory there in V8 Supercars before retiring. Wink, Team Principal Bruce Stewart called back the designer of the period decor to adapt it to the Holden Commodore of Pye-Luff and Courtney-Perkins!

Garry Rogers Motorsport
Here, we thank the chef! Garry Rogers, distinguished driver in the 70's and 80's and boss of the eponymous team, will see two of his former decorations on the track. Tander-Pither will recall the 1979 Holden and Golding-Muscat will recall another Holden, driven in 1981.

Nissan motorsport
When the Kelly brothers (Todd and Rick) created their V8 Supercars team, they did so by joining forces with Perkins Engineering. This structure had incubated Holdens in Castrol colors for almost a decade (between 1993 and the beginning of the 2000s), notably with former champion Russell Ingall. The little brother of the Kelly family, Rick, uses the same decor on the Nissan Altima that he will share with Garry Jacobson.

No historical reminder for the other Nissan, that of De Silverstro-Rullo, but a decoration inspired by the trend of the 1960s, notably with a number on a round and black background.

Brad Jones Racing
We rewind time to 1993! For “to honor the career of (S)we are fathers in Supercars », Tim Blanchard took over the yellow and white colors seen on John Blanchard's BMW E30 during this period. “I have photos of me helping to clean the car when I was little”, Tim recalls.

Another jump back in time, to the Seventies, with the orange livery of Slade-Walsh reminiscent of Bob Jane. He won four Supercars titles (called the Australian Touring Car Championship at the time), that's no small thing! Bob Jane also happens to be the godfather of Brad Jones, the stable boss.

Tickford Racing
Winner of the Enduro Cup in 2017, Chaz Mostert will team up with James Moffat. For the occasion, the two men kept the usual sponsor of the first city (Supercheap) but took up the design of the 2004 vintage, which Steven Ellery had used (without much success that year).

Preston Hire Racing
Historic decor! The end of the 2018 season will mark the fiftieth anniversary of Holden's first victory at Bathurst. To celebrate, Bright-Holdsworth will evolve with the exact fluorescent yellow decoration that was worn by McPhee-Mulholland in 1968.

Erebus Motorsport
One of the rare privateer drivers to have won Bathurst, Graeme Bailey will be celebrated with two distinct decorations on Erebus Motorsport Holdens. Reynolds (outgoing winner of Bathurst)-Youlden will recall the victory at Bathurst of Graeme Bailey in 1986 over Holden and the other duo of Pasquale-Brown will have the colors of the Toyota 1982 Celica, Sandown.

Beautiful decorations which we would like the major European championships to draw inspiration from, such is the history of the F1 or WRC is rich…
