Kristensen on pole in Barcelona

Tom Kristensen, winner of the first race of the season thanks to a puncture from Mattias Ekström, has since scored three points, finishing eighth three times. Far from his ambitions, the Dane wants to return to victory. He took the opportunity in Barcelona, where he set the best time in qualifying.

« Today, the car was constantly improving, says Tom Kristensen. My engineer found exactly the right setting. Everything is going perfectly. As a driver you always focus on how the car behaves and try to optimize that. I am very happy with this pole position. »

The Dane, who announced at the start of the year that he was playing his last season there in DTM, first achieved the fourth time in Q1, then the third time in Q2, before being the fastest during the last two phases of the qualifying session. The record holder for victories in 24 Hours of Le Mans thus managed to beat Paul Di Resta, winner at Brands Hatch by six hundredths of a second.

The duel that will attract DTM fans will take place further back. The first two in the championship standings, Timo Scheider and Mattias Ekström, will start in 6th and 7th position, ahead of Frenchman Alexandre Prémat. Third in the general classification, Gary Paffett has a chance to play since he will start from 5th place, ahead of his two main rivals.
