GPX Racing Porsche wins the 24 Hours of Dubai

This is GPX. At home, GPX Racing proved untouchable to win the 24 Hours of Dubai, the opening race of the GT season and the 24 Hours Series.

The factory driver Porsche Mathieu Jaminet and Porsche junior Julien Andlauer did their job while Axcil Jefferies produced exceptional stints. The very experienced Alain Ferté and team owner Frédéric Fatien only had to take over to keep the car in the lead.

Indeed, the No. 911 Porsche 3 GT36 R took control from the second hour and never let go.

The start of the race went to the advantage of another Porsche, that of Herberth Motorsport. After 1h45 of racing, the first incident ejected the Mercedes #5 Haupt Racing in the race for the podium. A mechanical problem caused it to stop in the middle of the track before being towed to the pits.

After the race was neutralized via a Code 60, GPX Racing was able to start its boss course. The exits and the Code 60s quickly cleared up the landscape, since only three cars found themselves on the same lap after three hours of racing with the Haupt Racing Mercedes in the hands of Maro Engel and Hubert Haupt in particular and the Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini driven by Mirko Bortolotti.

The Audi of the WRT team of Dries Vanthoor and Kelvin Van der Linde as well as the Porsche of Herberth Motorsport remained in ambush.

But in the eleventh hour, the Herberth Motorsport Porsche suffered a mechanical problem which forced it to stay in its pit for 30 minutes, dampening its hopes.

Meanwhile, GPX extended its lead to three laps and was never really worried, even after the twist of fate at the last refueling stop. With an hour to go, a code 60 allowed the HRT Mercedes and the WRT Audi to enter the pits for free, while the flag was back to green as GPX Racing arrived in the pitlane.

Fortunately, the Porsche remained 1'45 ahead, and Jefferies found himself facing the amateur Al-Qubaisi in the Mercedes. Mass was said.

Already winner of the 24 Hours of Spa in 2019, GPX Racing wins a new 24-hour race ahead of the #31 Audi of Team WRT driven by Dries Vanthoor, Kelvin Van der Linde, Frank Bird, Benjamin Goethe and Louis Machiels and the No. 4 Mercedes HRT led by Hubert Haupt, Maro Engel, Patrick Assenheimer, Ryan Ratcliffe and Khaled Al-Qubaisi. The No. 63 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan of Mirko Bortolotti and Rolf Ineichen finished fourth.

The other Haupt Racing car in the hands of Khaled Al Qubaisi, Valentin Pierburg, Patrick Assenheimer, Florian Scholze and Nico Bastian placed fifth and won the Pro-Am category.

Note the nice seventh place of the 100% French Mercedes of Racetivity, driven by François Perrodo, Emmanuel Collard, Matthieu Vaxiviere and François Perrodo and Charles-Henri Samani.
