Created in 2006, the 24 Hours of Dubai had only seen one victory for Audi until the 2019 edition. This Saturday, January 12, the brand with the Rings scored a second success thanks to the Car Collection team Motorsport. The German team won the event thanks to the quartet of official Audi drivers Frédéric Vervisch, Christopher Haase, associated with Dimitri Parhofer and Rik Breukers.
Despite more than 600 rounds covered (607 precisely), theAudi R8 LMS GT3 Evo was only one loop ahead of its closest rival under the checkered flag. Fortunately for Audi, it was another R8 LMS GT3 Evo which finished on the second step of the podium, with the MS7 by WRT (Mohammed Saud Fahad Al Saud-Michael Vergers-Dries Vanthoor-Christopher Mies).
The Czech stable Team Prague completes the top 3, with Josef Kral, Matteo Malucelli and Jari Pisarik. Pole sitter Mirko Bortolotti (Lamborghini) quickly became disillusioned. Leader after 20 minutes, the Huracan GT3 was the victim of a collision and spent a long time stopped in the GRT Grasser Racing Team stand. The Italian, however, finished just off the podium.
The only French entered in GT3 finished 12th overall (6th in Am) through Saintéloc Racing and Simon Gachet, Nyls Stievenart, Christian Kelders, Pierre-Yves Paque and Daniel Desbrueres.
