The DTM stops in Burgundy

The epilogue of the season DTM fast approaching. With eight events already contested, the championship is entering its home stretch. For the first time, the series is making an incursion into Burgundy this weekend, on the legendary Dijon-Prenois circuit.

The reigning champion, Timo Scheider (Audi) is in the lead with 53 points on the clock. With two more events to go, the Audi driver could even win a second consecutive title if he manages to maintain a ten-point gap on his runner-up. At present, his closest pursuers are Mattias Ekström (Audi) and Gary Paffett (Mercedes-Benz) which follow it at twelve and fourteen units respectively.

On the very fast Dijon-Prenois track, Scheider will try to win a third victory this season. “ I am waiting with great interest for Dijon-Prenois. First of all, the track is new on the calendar – and something new is always interesting », Explains the German. “ On the other hand, in Dijon you can really feel the importance of the centrifugal force that a DTM car generates. Furthermore, just before the finish line there is a super-fast right turn which is exceptional for the car and for the load acting on the tires. Regarding tire wear we have to get a good balance because there is a big risk of punctures. »

However, the drivers will not discover the circuit since they have already carried out tests at the start of the season. Tests during which Scheider showed himself to be the fastest. “ During testing before the start of the season I was the fastest. That's why I'm going for the maximum attack He continues.

On the French side, Alexandre Prémat will try to seize the opportunity to race at home to score new points after the first win in Barcelona at the end of September. “ I'm ready for my home race in Dijon. It's an awesome track. I won in Formula Renault and this winter we carried out some good tests. That's why I hope we do a good job. However, you never know what might happen in France because there is a high chance of rain at this time of year. I'll give everything I have to finish in the points again », Indicates the Habs.

In addition to the DTM race, Dijon-Prenois will also host the penultimate round of F3 Euro Series, une manche de Porsche Carrera Cup allemande et une autre de SEAT Leon Supercopa.
