The EGT Championship sets up its base camp in Pau

France will be a hub of EGT Championship. The first season of this championship featuring the Tesla Model S will begin on November 25 on the Paul-Ricard track (Var), and the organizers of the series have made it official the creation of their main base in Pau.

As part of the Pau E-Circuit project on the Pau-Arnos route, the headquarters of the EGT Championship will be built and will integrate the facilities dedicated to the testing and development of the Tesla, on and off the track.

“For Electric GT, the Pau-Arnos Circuit is the best possible location to support our future partners, teams, drivers and VIPs, comments Mark Gemmell, championship director.

The headquarters is set in the beautiful French countryside, reminding us that with the right technology we can not only take care of our planet, but also have fun.

The circuit receives support from local and regional institutions and the EGT acts as an inspiring catalyst for much of its innovation.

We will develop a large part of our championship around this new HQ, offering business opportunities to the region. The South West of France is at the center of clean energy, with several groundbreaking technology companies based here.

The excellent climate means that we are able to use the circuit all year round for testing and there are not many places in the world that offer the level of hospitality and accommodation that you can find here. »

The region is in fact one of the leaders in the field of energy, via the Pau-Adour University and the Pau-Lacq facilities being reconverted after the end of commercial exploitation of the gas field by Total in 2013. .

“We believe that Pau E-Circuit, located near the historic energy innovation center of Pau-Lacq, is the ideal partner for the Electric GT and for the future, estimates Philippe Costemale, president of Pau E-Circuit.

The EGT will benefit from the Nouvelle Aquitaine Region technology group and world-class research facilities. The University of Pau and Pays de l'Adour (UPPA) is one of the main campuses in France for energy and the environment.

It is dedicated to the energy transition, in partnership with innovative companies responsible for energy storage, renewable solutions and new mobility solutions. »
