Sports Club Europe will finally separate GT3 and GT2 in 2020

If America and Asia had seen a specific GT2 series confirmed for 2020 alongside the 24 Hours of Spa, the European continent was to be the scene of a mix between GT3 and the new category promoted by SRO Motorsports from this weekend in Barcelona in Blancpain GT Sportsclub.

But the entry list ultimately only includes one Audi R8 LMS GT2 for the Audi Sport Team WRT and the American James Sofronas. A “surprise” as indicated by Stéphane Ratel, founder of the promoter, and whose troops finally decided to separate the GT3 and GT2 categories for 2020.

A Sportsclub GT2 will be organized over five events, starting in July, when the Sportsclub GT3 will keep the calendar unveiled in Belgium during the summer with two modifications: the replacement of Zandvoort with a race during Spa Speedweek in July and the GT3 returns to Magny-Cours in mid-September.

GT3 Sports Club Europe 2020 Calendar:

Monza (April 18-19)
Paul Ricard (May 30-31)
Spa Speedweek (July 18-19)
Magny-Cours (September 12-13)
Barcelona (October 10-11)

GT2 Sports Club Europe 2020 Calendar:

Spa (Official testing) (June 15)
Misano (July 4-5)
24 Hours of Spa (July 23-26)
Nürburgring (September 5-6)
Paul Ricard (October 3-4)
Imola (October 31-November 1)
