It is a monument of the Oceanian calendar which is disappearing. The Australian Supercars meeting in the city of Adelaide has died and will not return, following the decision of the Government of South Australia to no longer support the event.
In a press release, the South Australian Tourism Commission explains this withdrawal by “a number of factors, in particular Covid-19 at one of the largest gatherings in the state of South Australia as well as the inability to offset expenses during the pandemic. »
For its part, Supercars tersely indicated that it “had enjoyed racing on this event since 1999” and that she “regrets this decision. If in the future the Government decides to organize the Adelaide 500 again, we would be delighted to return. »
So, rather than moping around, let's remember one of the biggest moments of this round, the crazy final lap between Scott McLaughlin's Volvo and Jamie Whincup's Holden in 2014!
