FIA Motorsport Games postponed to 2021

The second edition of the FIA Motorsport Games will not take place in 2020 due to the coronavirus epidemic. After a first edition contested in Vallelunga (Italy), the event organized by SRO Motorsports Group was to be held from October 23 to 25 on the Paul-Ricard circuit (Var). The second edition is finally scheduled for October 22 to 24, 2021.

The organizers explained that this postponement would help support the motorsport industry “by reducing logistical needs and financial pressure”. This postponement will also make it possible to avoid clashes of dates with the numerous events postponed following the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 crisis, we have decided to postpone the 2020 Motorsport Games until the following year, commented FIA President Jean Todt. This will allow national federations, teams and our promoter SRO to be better prepared. I would like to take this opportunity to wish the best to the Circuit Paul-Ricard which celebrated its 50th anniversary last Sunday. »

“It was the right decision to make, added Stéphane Ratel, president of SRO Motorsports Group. The event is about having each nation represented by the most talented competitors, but many disciplines will be contested later in the year and the end of the season is likely to be hotly contested. »

The second edition of the FIA Motorsport Games must welcome the disciplines of rally and historic cars, in addition to GT, F4, touring, drifting, slalom and Esport.
