McLaughlin faster at start than Whincup in Darwin

Scott McLaughlin (Ford) continues to write his name in Supercars history. The New Zealander overtook the legend Peter Brock on the list of the most victorious competitors this Saturday, August 22 by signing his 49th success in the discipline. He is now the 5th driver on the list, while Jamie Whincup (Holden), the record holder (120 victories) finished 2nd in Darwin.

Everything was decided at the start. Pole sitter Jamie Whincup immediately gave in to the Ford Mustang of DJR Team Penske. “He took off better thanks to the clean trajectory on his side,” explained the Triple Eight pilot.

Team Tickford duo Cameron Waters and James Courtney take the places of honor. In the championship, Scott McLaughlin takes a 109-point lead over Jamie Whincup. Chaz Mostert (Holden), only ninth in Darwin, remains on the last step of the provisional podium with a delay of 254 units.
