Michael Krumm: “It will be tough in Ordos”

After a summer break of a month and a half, the protagonists of the FIA GT1 world championship meet next week in Ordos, China, for what should normally constitute the penultimate stage of the season. The following weekend, the competitors are supposed to continue with a second event in the Middle Kingdom, on the Goldenport Park Circuit in Beijing, before heading to Argentina, and San Luis, at the beginning of November. But if the approval of the Beijing circuit by the FIA was to take place at the beginning of August, no news has filtered out since. And the date appears neither on the calendar of the official website of the discipline, nor on that visible on the FIA website.

Next week, the duo driving the No. 23 JR Motorsports Nissan will arrive at Ordos with a 14-point lead in the general classification after the double success at Paul-Ricard in July. Lucas Luhr and Michael Krumm will do everything to keep the advantage. But the German pair expect to suffer on a track which should not necessarily suit the GT-R very well, especially since theirs will carry 60kg of ballast following the Var victory. “It will be hard for us in Ordos with this extra weight, admits Krumm. Our goal will be to prevent the title from being decided before the final race in Argentina. The San Luis circuit will suit the GT-R well. So it would be great to still have a chance to play for the crown when we get there. »

Very lively since the start of the season, it is hard to believe that the German pair of the No. 23 Nissan are not arriving in South America with a real chance of being crowned. From next week in Ordos we should see things more clearly.
