Müller signs his 3rd victory of the season at the Lausitzring

Declared winner of the second Spa race during the week after the penalty of René Rast (Audi), Nico Müller (Audi) continued perfectly this Saturday at the Lausitzring, signing a third consecutive victory in 2020 in DTM, the seventh of his career.

The Swiss mainly built his success by getting a better start than pole sitter Robin Frijns and taking control of the race ahead of the Dutchman, when Sheldon van der Linde managed to place his BMW in third position ahead of Loïc duval (Audi).

Further on, René Rast (Audi) goes off-course but can continue, while Fabio Scherer (Audi – WRT) spins into the gravel but can also continue his effort.

The positions remained the same during the first stint, before van der Linde initiated the first pit stops in the top 5 on lap 14. The South African made the right move as he passed Frijns and Duval, who came through the pits a lap later, taking advantage of his better temperature tires in the first sequence after leaving the pitlane.

We had to wait until the 19th lap to see the leader Müller stop in turn. The latter leaves without problem in front of the group led by van der Linde, Frijns, Marco Wittmann (BMW) and Duval.

The Swiss will only have to wait for Mike Rockenfeller to enter the pitlane, one of the last to observe his stop, to take control of the race and control all the way to the checkerboard. Müller signs his third victory in a row in 2020 ahead of van der Linde, who signs his first podium in the category, and the first for BMW this year and Frijns. Wittmann and Glock put their BMW M4s in the top 5.

Disappointment for Loïc Duval, forced to immobilize his Audi RS 5 after 25 laps, the Frenchman no longer being able to accelerate with his car.
