Hamlin wins in Texas

Denny Hamlin (Toyota) a signé sur le Texas Motor Speedway sa seconde victoire de la saison après son succès au Daytona 500. Après avoir remporté le deuxième segment, le pensionnaire de la Joe Gibbs Racing a pris l’avantage en profitant notamment d’un contact de son coéquipier Kyle Busch avec le mur alors que le champion 2015 était encore bien parti pour réaliser le « sweep ».

Despite several errors with missed refueling, Denny Hamlin won with almost 3 seconds ahead of the Fords of Clint Bowyer and Daniel Suarez, with Erik Jones taking fourth place. The driver of the No. 11 Camry also offers his team the 4th success of the year with Kyle Busch's two victories.

Jimmie Johnson finally got a good result by placing the first Chevrolet in the Top 5 ahead of his teammate William Byron after taking pole. Kyle Busch was only able to salvage a tenth place behind the Fords of Aric Almirola and Kevin Harvick.
