- Huddled within the peloton throughout the event, Kyle Busch emerged in the last of the two overtimes to win.
- After three weeks of short tracks, the time had come to reconnect with the exhilaration of speed on the Talladega Super Speedway, certainly the most spectacular and dangerous track of the season. The gigantic 2,66 mile (4,28 kilometer) oval had to be covered 188 times to complete the 500 miles of the event. It ultimately took 196!
- Kevin Harvick celebrated his 800th start in the premier class in Alabama. The future retiree remains green but was not rewarded for his very good race, failing to finish in a poor 20th place.
- The local of the stage, Bubba Wallace, still appreciates these wide open spaces. After signing his first victory at Talladega in October 2021, he was the big entertainer of the race, leading 35 laps. A big one in the last loop deprived him of a victory that was promised to him.
- Chase Elliott won the first segment and narrowly failed to take the second, only handing it over to Aric Almirola in the final meters.
