Nascar – Kyle Busch joins the list in Atlanta

Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing) a remporté dans la nuit sa seconde victoire sur l’ovale d’Atlanta, la 28e de sa carrière, en s’imposant au terme de l’AdvoCare 500. Avec ce quatrième succès décroché cette saison, le pilote de la Toyota n°18 égale Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) tandis que Matt Kenseth (Joe Gibbs Racing) reste en tête avec cinq premières places. Le vainqueur est parvenu à prendre la tête à l’issue de la dernière salve d’arrêts et à conserver l’avantage sur Joey Logano (Penske Racing). Le pilote de la Ford n°22 a été le principal leader de la course après avoir récupéré les commandes de l’épreuve suite à l’explosion du moteur de Clint Bowyer (Michael Waltrip Racing). Martin Truex Jr (Michael Waltrip Racing) complète le top trois devant Kurt Busch (Furniture Row Racing) et Ryan Newman (Stewart-Haas Racing).

Before competing in the Richmond race, the last event of the regular season before the start of the Chase, seven drivers are assured of a place in the fight for the title: Jimmie Johnson, Clint Bowyer, Kevin Harvick (Richard Childress Racing), Carl Edwards (Roush Fenway Racing) and Kasey Kahne (Hendrick Motorsports) who will finish at least as a wilcard. Note that the five-time Sprint Cup champion's black streak continued with two contacts relegating him to four laps behind the winner. If the Hendrick driver retains the lead in the Championship, things are going badly for Brad Keselowski (Penske Racing). The reigning champion retired due to engine problems while leading the race. The driver of the No. 2 Fusion drops to 15th position in the Drivers' standings and still has no victory this year.
