In addition to its team of Formula 1, Embarrassed Haas is a major player in American motorsport, associated with former driver Tony Stewart in a team of NASCAR since 2009. The team's headquarters are based in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the heart of NASCAR beats.

The Florida stage of the Formula 1 season offered a great opportunity to invite the drivers of the F1 team to come and discover this ultra-popular discipline across the Atlantic and far removed from European standards. In a short leap of 730 miles (1 km), or roughly 175 times the distance of the flagship event of the season, the Daytona 1,5, Mick Schumacher et Kevin Magnussen went to the Charlotte Motor Speedway for a baptism in “Days of Thunder” mode.

They were welcomed there by Chase Briscoe and Cole Custer, current 14th and 27th in the NASCAR Cup Series, and Riley Herbst, the team's young hopeful competing in the second division Xfinity Series. For the occasion, the oval was placed in Roval configuration, a mix of speed ring and road portions. No information has filtered out on the times achieved, but obviously good humor took precedence over performance.

“A super cool opportunity to accompany Mick and Kevin behind the wheel of a NASCAR. I'm happy to see how much fun they had. I think another wheel swap would be appropriate, but this time I have to be given an F1 car,” said Chase Briscoe while Cole Custer was on cloud nine: “It was pretty surreal to be a part of this but it's still great when two sports meet and we can discuss similarities and differences between cars. From their first time behind the wheel they were evil! »

Tony Stewart was the protagonist of one of the first "seat swaps", exchange of NASCAR/F1 seats, with Lewis Hamilton in June 2011. Since then, Jimmie Johnson, seven-time NASCAR champion and regular competitor in Indycar, had exchanged his mount with Fernando Alonso in Bahrain in 2018. Daniel Ricciardo's test last year in Austin of legend Richard Petty's 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo had renewed the links between the two disciplines.
