Oshima/Yamashita triumph, Toyota dominates in Okayama

On pole this Sunday, the Toyota GR Supra N°37 of KeePer TOM's driven by Sena Sakaguchi and Ryo Hirakawa claimed victory for a long time before losing everything in the pit lane.

A solid leader, the No. 37 easily led the 33 of the first 82 laps ahead of the No. 14 of Rookie Racing and the No. 36 of TOM's before the pit stops.

The entry of the safety car onto the track precipitated the refueling. A sequence which cost the No. 37 tandem dearly. Leader at the entry, the Toyota GR Supra of KeePer TOM's, now in the hands of Ryo Hirakawa, came out 4th leaving the lead to the No. 14 of Rookie Racing ahead of the No. 36 of TOM's.

What followed was a great battle between Rookie Racing's Kenta Yamashita and TOM's Sho Tsuboi.

The latter tried numerous times to seize the lead but always came across an intractable Kenta Yamashita determined to keep the reins of the race.

Determined to pass, Sho Tsuboi made a final attempt 8 laps from the finish which ended with him visiting the escape route in the first turn.

Kenta Yamashita then had only one boulevard in front of him to get this first victory of the season with his teammate Kazuya Oshima.

Brawlers, Sho Tsuboi and his teammate Yuhi Sekiguchi still came away with a second place ahead of the No. 37 KeePer TOM's (Sakaguchi/Hirakawa).

In the No. 39 GR Supra, Heikki Kovalainen and Yuichi Nakayama gave Toyota a quadruple to start the season. Honda entered the Top 5 thanks to Koudai Tsukakoshi and Belgian Bertrand Baguette aboard the No. 17 Real Racing NSX.

The next meeting is scheduled for Fuji on May 3 and 4.
