Paffett as a fine strategist

After a first blank race, Gary Paffett won the Lausitzring event this Sunday. The Briton, although starting from afar, took the best thanks to his pit stop strategy.

Paffett as a fine strategist

The Swede will think he is cursed. Two races, two poles, no victories. But if, a fortnight ago, a puncture had deprived him of a promised victory, it was this time on a regular basis that he was beaten. And, third, Ekström consoles himself with a podium, all the same.

If Gary Paffet won, he owes it above all to his speed on the Eurospeedway but also to a perfect pit stop strategy. Where the other drivers made their second pit stop early, Paffett, Spengler and Green completed a series of laps before returning to the pits. A well-executed strategy for Paffett, who managed to open up significant gaps by staying longer on the track, before his second stop. In the end, he was ahead of the Canadian Bruno Spengler, who started fifth, and who also benefited from an advantageous strategy.

In the general classification, Timo Scheider takes the best place. Second at Hockenheim, the German finished fifth on EuroSpeedway and now has twelve points. Tom Kristensen and Gary Paffett, with ten units, are in ambush.
