Paul di Resta wins and gets back on track

Paul di Resta (Mercedes), at home, in front of 24 spectators, showed himself to be intractable. The Briton, who started in pole position for the seventh round of the season DTM, quickly escaped. Thus, after his first pit stop, the Force India test driver had thirteen seconds over his pursuers, Bruno Spengler (Mercedes) and Timo Scheider (Audi). Paul di Resta was thus not worried, managing his end of the race intelligently and completing the 98 laps of Brands Hatch seven seconds ahead of Bruno Spengler and Timo Scheider.

« Today it really wasn't difficult, admits di Resta, quite simply because the car was fantastic, even better than in qualifying. I was able to control the race and score big points for the championship. Winning here today is truly extraordinary. I feel really good behind the wheel of this car and I hope that I can stay at the front in this way. »

With Bruno Spengler finishing second, Paul di Resta only takes two points back from the championship leader. However, the Briton is nine points behind the Franco-Canadian and can continue to dream of the title. Third, Timo Scheider scores six points for the second consecutive time and overtakes Mattias Ekström to inherit the best classification of an Audi driver.

Gary Paffett (Mercedes), fifth, made a bad move by giving up second place in the general championship standings, now four points behind Paul di Resta and thirteen behind Bruno Spengler. Alexandre Prémat (Audi), eighth, finished in the points for the third time this season.
