Paul di Resta returns to Bruno Spengler

Paul di Resta (Mercedes Class C), with four consecutive races finished in one of the first two places, asserts itself as an increasingly tough rival against Bruno Spengler (Mercedes Class C), leader of the general classification of DTM. However, due to a longer first pit stop than the Canadian, di Resta initially lost the race lead, before regaining it thanks to a very good second stint as well as an impeccable second pit stop. The Scot thus achieved a second consecutive victory, allowing him to come back to seven points behind Bruno Spengler.

« The race was not easy! », Commented Paul di Resta when he got out of the car. “ Fortunately, thanks to our speed, we were able to stay on track a little longer and wait for the perfect moment to make our second pit stop. Winning two races in a row is absolutely incredible. There are now only three races left. I'm excited and really confident. »

Mattias Ekström (Audi A4), third this Sunday at Oschersleben, consolidates his position as best Audi driver. However, in the general classification, he is very far from the two Mercedes drivers, being 26 points behind Bruno Spengler, while there are only three races to go and, therefore, 30 points to distribute. However, at Mercedes, we refuse to say that the title is in our pocket.

« I will not accept any congratulations for the title, confirms Norbert Haug, boss of Mercedes Motorsport. Mathematically, it is not done. But it is true that we have taken another step in the right direction. We have a margin of 26 points, there are 30 points left to take. Today, we saw how tight it is still. We had the best speed and we were able to attack. This season is exciting and we can't wait to be at Hockenheim. »
