PCCF – Portimão: Marvin Klein 2021 champion despite his retirement

The end of the championship was not as spectacular as we expected. The fight ended and Marvin Klein won the 2021 PCCF title. It only took two turns and a big clash between the two leaders to see the CLRT driver crowned. A title with a particular flavor which nevertheless rewards a very convincing second part of the season from the Varois.

At the start, Dorian Boccolacci (Martinet by Alméras) took advantage of the generosity of Ugo Gazil (Pierre Martinet by Alméras) and Marvin Klein (CLRT) to infiltrate the inside of turn 1. The 2021 rookie champion arrived too quickly in the T2 and hits Marvin Klein at high speed. The latter hits Ugo Gazil and they violently exit into the gravel trap. They hit the rail at the bottom and the championship ends there for both drivers. Dorian Boccolacci spins. The Cannes resident also gave up and saw his title chances disappear. The collision is obviously under investigation. After analyzing the incident, the race direction gives its verdict. Marvin Klein did not leave enough room for his rival. No penalty is imposed but Dorian Boccolacci is cleared.

The Safety Car was deployed after this incident. Florian Latorre (CLRT) remained in control of the race ahead of Alessandro Ghiretti (Martinet by Alméras) and Cooper Murray (Pierre Martinet by Alméras). After almost 15 minutes of interruption, the drivers are released but the places remain unchanged in the top 3. Behind, Evan Spenle puts on the show. The MRT by CLRT driver doubles in quick succession Gianmarco Quaresmini (Ombra Racing) and Cooper Murray (Pierre Martinet by Alméras) to temporarily climb onto the podium. A first maneuver deemed illegal earns him a penalty of 5 seconds.

Florian Latorre (CLRT) therefore signs his first victory of the season. Alessandro Ghiretti (Martinet by Alméras) finished 2nd and reached the podium for the 6th time this season. Hope Porsche 2021 wins the rookie category. Cooper Murray (Pierre Martinet by Alméras) takes 3rd position thanks to the sanction imposed on Evan Spenle (MRT by CLRT).

In Pro-Am, the fight is intense until the end and Nicolas Misslin (BWT Lechner Racing) wins the category for the 4th time. Christopher Stone (Pierre Martinet by Alméras) crosses the line as winner but receives a 5-second penalty for a collision with Misslin. He finally finished 4th in Pro-Am. Jérôme Boullery is an unfortunate 2nd. With a superb last sector, the YDEO driver failed 15 thousandths from victory and therefore the title. In Am, new success for Sébastien Dussolliet (ABM). The winner of the C1 is ahead of the 2021 champion Maxence Maurice (IMSA Performance) and Tugdual Rabreau (CLRT).

The 31st edition of the Porsche Carrera Cup France therefore concludes with the titles of Marvin Klein overall, Nicolas Misslin in Pro-Am, Maxence Maurice in Am and Dorian Boccolacci in Rookie. See you in 2022 for a new edition of the PCCF.
