Pirelli World Challenge – Memo Gidley back in competition

Seriously crashed and injured at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2014 after a terrible collision between his Corvette DP prototype and the Ferrari 458 Italia of the Risi Competizione of Matteo Malucelli idling on the track, Memo Gidley to return to Pirelli World Challenge GT Sprint in Sonoma, California (September 14-16).

“I waited a long time for this announcement, admits Gidley. It was a long rehab process, but I always wanted to get back into a race car and my friends at TKO Motorsports gave me that opportunity. And I am extremely grateful for this chance in the Pirelli World Challenge.

The nerve pain was the worst. It was difficult to deal with this during recovery. I couldn't even take the bumps on city streets in a passenger car. But, eventually, that pain went away.

Now I can't bend over and touch my toes without a pain in my back. But I was able to continue my training and even do some karting regularly. »
